Reviews
As far as Japanese restaurants go Is Donburi isn’t too bad. The sushi rolls are good quality, and they are definitely quite creative. The food trends on the slightly more expensive side - whether it’s worth it will really depend on the individual. They have a pretty good menu with a lot of dishes, won’t say that I was blown away by anything but nothing was bad.
The place is nice, unique layout for sure - and there are quite a few seats so you shouldn’t have a problem getting a spot. Parking is typical city parking which isn’t fantastic during peak times. Service was great though, the lady who served us was incredibly polite and the food came out quite fast despite there being quite a few patrons in the restaurant when we were there.
There are better Japanese offerings out there for the price, but this will always be a pretty safe bet.
We went there for staff dinner, order a combination of sushi and sashimi, S sashimi, squid, tofu and a few sushi roll for food.
Ordered Sake and beer for drinks.
The food is average for me. The service is ok but the table set up was a bit off. Because we booked for 7 people. And the restaurant can’t even make us sit together because of the odd setting.
The food very cheap here for 5 adults and 2 kids. We paid $408 and couldn’t finish them all.
This restaurant offers a wide variety of Japanese cuisine options, including some sake choices.
During our visit, we decided to try the Curry Katsu Donburi. While the portion of rice served was generous, I must admit that I found the meat portion to be rather thin and dry. It lacked the succulence and tenderness that I was hoping for. Additionally, the amount of curry provided wasn't sufficient to fully complement the portion of rice. This was a slight disappointment, as I believe a well-balanced dish is crucial for a satisfying meal experience.
On a positive note, the six-piece sushi roll we ordered was a highlight of the meal. The ingredients used were noticeably fresh, and each bite was a delightful combination of flavors. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the sushi roll which we ordered.
The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The overall cleanliness and attention to detail were notable, contributing to a comfortable dining environment. The staff members were attentive and helpful, ensuring that our needs were met throughout the meal.
If you're seeking a place to enjoy a relaxed meal and have a quiet conversation, this restaurant is worth a visit
An Asian restaurant that I would never think of going to if it weren't for a friend's recommendation. A pleasant surprise in a unique experience with wonderful food, fair prices and friendly staff. I recommend it to anyone looking for a place to have dinner in the city.
The food is served hot and delicious, I have ordered a Japanese curry rice and it is awesome! I use chopsticks only to eat the whole bowl, the food is also served with a small bowl of miso soup. The soup is just nice, not salty and the smell is adequate! It was a busy dinner hour, and apparently they are lacking food attendant, and there was a long queue outside the restaurant. So what!? Good food worths waiting!! The environment is also very cozy and comfortable. Overall I will visit again here!!
Food is always super fresh and portions are generous. Service is amazing. One of my favourite Japanese spots.
Normally need to queue up for this restaurant, so nightly recommend to go before 6 pm to guarantee a seat.
Their salmon belly and the salmon avocado don are out of our expectations! Really nice and comfy restaurant. Will come back and try some other dishes.
We have been 3 Saturday nights in a row and have not been disapointed. Each time we have ordered something new and each time we just loved it especially their Udon soups and hand made 8 piece sushi rolls. The lady owner is amazing and obviously cares for her customers a lot. It shows! See you on Saturday night!
